Thank you for visiting Arthur’s English School.
This school was founded with a simple but powerful belief:
English can change a child’s future.
Director's Message
In today's world, English is more than a school subject. It connects people, opens doors, and changes what's possible for a kid growing up in Japan.
I grew up in Fiji and built a career in education. In Japan, as a rugby player and after retirement, an English teacher (ALT).
Along the way, I saw, over and over, how much language shapes the opportunities you get and the people you're able to connect with. That's really where the idea for this school came from.
I wanted to build a school where kids aren't just taught English — they're pushed to actually think and communicate in it, and to feel confident doing that. Kids learn best when they feel safe and supported, but also genuinely engaged. That's what I've tried to build here.
We work on all four skills and more — listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation — but I care just as much about the stuff underneath that: curiosity, and the willingness to try even when you're not sure you'll get it right.
Memorizing vocabulary isn't the goal. Being able to actually use the language is. Lessons are built to be active — students asking questions, saying what they think, making mistakes and continuing anyway.
If you're looking for an English after-school program near Yachiyo Chuo Station, I'd love for you to come try a lesson. We teach kids from age 4 and up, and adults too, both in person here in Yachiyo and online anywhere in Japan.
As the school grows, I want to keep building on this — eventually adding programs that push creativity and problem-solving, not just language drills.
Our motto is "10X YOUR ENGLISH SKILLS." It's not a slogan I picked because it sounds good — it's what I actually hope for every student here: real, visible progress, and the confidence that comes with it.
I know choosing a school for your child is a real decision, not a small one. I'd be glad to have you come see what we do.
